December 29 Free Community Meal 5-6:30PM

During this time of year, we experience varied emotions. Many children greet the coming of Christmas with excitement and joy, while those who have lost a loved one or who are having difficulty may have only sadness. This year’s mid-week Advent theme is "Tidings of Comfort and Joy," and will explore through the Scriptures both the struggle of our lives and the hope that the Christ Child brings to us. Please plan to join us either at noon or at 7 p.m. on the Wednesdays of Advent for worship: November 30, December 7, and December 14. We will have a light lunch after the noon service each week, and a light supper beginning at 6 p.m. before the evening service. Come prepare your hearts for the Incarnation of Our Lord

Our next Free Community Meal is scheduled for Thursday November 29th, 2016, from 5:00PM-6:30PM.This program is being supported, in part, through a grant from the ELCA (World Hunger) Domestic Hunger Grants Program. The responsibility for hosting the meals has been divided between different volunteers and will change monthly. More help is always welcome and appreciated! *Volunteers are essential to making this event a success* Please contact one of the team facilitators below if you can assist with cooking, clean up, serving, or have a food item to donate. The congregation is encouraged to attend and share a friendly face with our community!

Saturday, December 10, from 7-8 p.m. is the date and time for the Great Seal of Ohio Christmas Concert at Calvary Church.

We will be playing lots of traditional pieces and some newer variations of Christmas melodies, too!

Come and bring your family and friends! Of course, this concert is free and open to the public! There will be a free-will offering to assist the band with paying for band instruments and new music, as well.

Calvary members in the band include the following: Jeremy Burke, Jaqui Patterson, Zack Ross, Walter Diekroger, and Diane Diekroger.

On Sunday, December 4 at 9:30 a.m. Ellie Lamb will be with us to offer a presentation on the MADE Program now being implemented in Ross County Schools. This is a drug prevention program that offers incentives to students who commit to participate in it. Ellie is a freshman at OUC and will offer her presentation in the sanctuary during the Sunday School hour.
